About the session

We’ll explore what emotional safety feels like, not just for children, but for staff too — and why it’s the foundation for trust, learning, and belonging. The session also considers the importance of cultural sensitivity and how to build genuinely inclusive spaces where every child feels seen, valued, and understood.

Karylle Phillips

Karylle Phillips is a trauma-informed practitioner and lived experience leader dedicated to creating safe, inclusive environments for children in care across all the services they encounter. Working across the West Midlands, she partners with public services to drive systemic change and embed trauma-informed practice.

With over a decade of experience in children’s social care and education, Karylle advocates for children’s rights, authentic youth participation, and improved outcomes.

Her work spans direct support, national consultations, and innovation in policy and practice. With qualifications in social work, education, and child and family law, Karylle draws from both personal and professional insight to influence change and elevate the voices of those with lived experience.
