About the session

Children and young people are growing up in a world that looks very different from the one our brains evolved for. Rising anxiety, low mood, sleep disruption and emotional overwhelm are no longer edge cases – they are becoming the norm.

Drawing on Jonathan Haidt’s The Anxious Generation and decades of developmental and trauma-informed practice, this session explores what has changed, why it matters, and what we can do about it – together.

Kate Cairns

Kate is an author, teacher, social worker and foster mother and grandmother, having provided a lifelong family for twelve children in care and three by birth.
