Learning outcomes

  • Explore definitions and types of trauma, and consider the potential impacts of trauma on people
  • Reflect on notions of structural and socio-economic trauma, and the need to avoid pathologizing individuals
  • Consider cautionary messages from research regarding the (mis)use of ‘ACEs’, and explore why reductive neuroscience can be so seductive
  • Highlight the crucial importance of participatory practice in the context of trauma
  • Reflect on the need for trauma-informed approaches across the whole organisation
  • Respectfully debate all of the above in a safe and brave space together.

Community conversation
